Every finish is the same price. In the designer you can enter any length from 6 to 43 15/16 in. and fine-tune the depth, in 1/16-inch steps.
Where 12-inch deep shelves fit
- Kitchen wall (upper) cabinets – standard wall cabinets are 12 in. deep on the outside, so the space inside is usually closer to 11 to 11 1/2 in. Measure before you order; many customers need an 11 in. deep shelf for these.
- Bookcases and wall units – 12 in. is a classic bookshelf depth that holds most hardcover books and binders.
- Laundry rooms – a shallow shelf above the washer and dryer for detergent and baskets.
- Linen closets and hallways – when the closet is narrow, 12 in. keeps towels in reach without blocking the door.
How to measure
Measure the inside of the cabinet from the back wall to the inside of the face frame or door, at the height where the shelf will sit. Measure the width between the side walls at the front and the back, use the smaller number, and subtract about 1/8 in. so the shelf slides in easily.

Questions about 12-inch deep shelves
Will a 12-inch shelf fit my kitchen wall cabinet?
Usually not quite. Most wall cabinets are 12 in. deep outside but only about 11 to 11 1/2 in. inside. Measure the inside depth and order that size – we cut to 1/16 inch.
What thickness are the shelves?
All Shelfix shelves are 3/4 in. (19 mm) melamine-faced particleboard – the same type of board used in many cabinet and closet systems.
Can you drill holes for shelf pins or round the corners?
Yes. Drilled holes and corner radius are available as add-ons in the designer.
How long does delivery take?
Production takes 1–3 business days and shipping 2–5 business days, so most orders arrive in 3–8 business days anywhere in the US.
